Me again,
Managed to get hold of front running gear and rear axle from a 65 midget with wire wheels, anyone know if its possible to use the parts and fit wire wheels to a minor. Half shafts look considerably shorter to me and im guessing that the spined hub is not removable from the shaft. Any advice or direction to tread would be great.

The Spridget axle is considerably narrower than the Minor axle - so no go. Wire wheels look ghastly enough on a Spridget - and absolutely awful on a Minor..........

Indeed - but they DO! Wire wheels look fine on an old MG TA/TC etc - the really old ones. But completely out of place (and impractical) on anything later.

Well it's definitely possible to fit wires on a minor, my mate had them on his. I know you can buy 4" PCD bolt on splines from MWS and they make the track about 1.5" wider (on a spridget) and you can use MGB 14" or MGA/MGC 15" wheels. Chrome wires would look pretty awesome as would gloss black painted.

BMC is entitled to an opinion, but I think the chrome wires on my Mk2 Jag look pretty good as do the silver painted ones on the MGA.

Yes - I agree with the Jag II and the MGA .......and no doubt plenty of other examples will be trotted out too - but on a Minor..

No longer an issue now, bought the mg axle and running gear as a bit of a punt, hoping I would find a 3.9 or 3.7 diff hiding in the axle, however turned out to be a 4.2. The good news is I only paid £40 for the lot and have now sold it to someone who wants to convert their midget to wires, nothing lost except my time (could of been worse might of spent the bank holiday stood around while the lady wife and and two teenage daughters were shopping). The lesson learnt is that not all midgets had the 3.7/3.9 diff that I'm looking for. Still not sure about wires on the moggy, some look good, others look wrong.
