misfiring

Hello all,
Over the last few days my car has developed a misfire when the engine is hot. Previously the car was misfiring when the engine was cold but a new set of leads seems to have sured that. The car also seems to backfire occasionally at high speeds.
So far I have swapped:
The leads with new ones
The coil with a known working coil (although I know it is never the coil  )
The points, rotor arm and condensor, distributer cap and sparking plugs were all replaced in November and have only done a few thousand miles.

I am really at my wits end and a dodgy starter motor hasn't been helping things.

Many thanks

Liam

Try replacing the condensor as several people on here have had problems with faulty condensors that haven't lasted very long. Also worth checking the braided low tension wire in the dizzy to see whether it is damaged and needs replacing

Yes I think that will be tomorrows job, and I have already inspected the braided lead and I could see any visual damage, but I havn't really gave them a thorough inspection so I will do that also tomorrow.

many thanks

Liam.

I wonder how many distributor caps, HT leads, condensors, coils and rotor arms are changed because there might be something wrong with one of them? By swappping and testing each component at a time a lot of money could be saved
