Quandary - should I or not
What do people think - I have had the blue traveller below for over eight years and in that time have done very little to it other than store it in a shed. Although long term storage isn't a problem it is clear I have neither the time nor skill to restore it and get it back on the road.
So what should I do ? Options - sell it on for very little money; store it long term in the hope/pipe dream of one day having the time (1.5 year old baby takes up most of my time now, plus have two saloons) or option three (gasp) scrap it and make the back half into a trailer for prams etc ??? As you see - a big quandary.
Any suggestions / guidance ???
Ps. I forgot to mention it needs welding everywhere - all new floors, sills etc. Everything.

Re: Quandary - should I or not
Certainly don't 'scrap' it or make it in to a trailer - which would take pretty much the same amount of effort as getting it back on the road! Maybe sell one of the saloons - and use the cash to pay someone to do all the welding etc while you 'potter' with all the minor (sorry!) jobs and the mechanical bits ?? Then you will have a nice Traveller (always worth more than saloons) with loads of space in the back for all your gear....

Re: Quandary - should I or not
It's been there 8 years. Why not a few more? Thinking back to when my kids were small I did have a different outlook then and as they have got older I have found I have taken on jobs I never thought I would get the enthusiasm or time for. If it's not in the way keep it.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

If you've got the storage then keep it, as that 18 month old baby will soon turn into an 18 year old one who can help you
! Failing that you may find at a later date that you have the money to pay to have it done up. Please don't chop it up to make it into a trailer - you can always buy a new trailer, but once a Minor is gone it's gone.

Re: Quandary - should I or not
My boy is 2 and he can already fetch tools, although invariably I end up being handed a large screw driver even with explicit instructions like "Go and get the 1/2 inch drive socket wrench with extension bar and a 5/8ths socket". He loves "Daddy Car" and I can't imagine selling it until he and I can have some fun together in it. "Once a Minor is gone it's gone", so true.chrisd87 wrote:If you've got the storage then keep it, as that 18 month old baby will soon turn into an 18 year old one who can help you! Please don't scrap her. If you can keep dry wait until you can work on her

Keep it and then in a few years I will take it off your hands as I will be doing the MM this year and when finished one of two travs then will pick up your one

Re: Quandary - should I or not
I agree with the above comments, don't scrap it!!! The traveller is mine (and many people's) favourite of the Minor breed.
As Minors get rarer, even projects needing welding like yours are sellable and people are restoring them so either sell to someone who can restore it, or keep the car in the dry till you can do (or pay someone) to do the welding!
Goos luck.

Re: Quandary - should I or not
Cheers Guys. I know what you mean. It is too good to scrap and in time it may see the road again. Space is not a problem and its sat there for so long now I'm sure another few years won't do it any harm. Someone posted an eBay link to a Saloon trailer that I keep an eye on, so who knows. Thanks everyone for your comments and advice. Ian
