MO traveller on ebay!

Post by davidpidge »

This is an incredibly rare thing and in incredible condition! Only 5500 Morris Oxford travellers were made and the club only knows of about 25-30 survivors! Be interesting to see how much it goes for.

What a lovely car.

Do you think the mileage is genuine? Surely it must be 129,000?

I don't know much about the Oxford. I assume the engine is not original!!

I once owned one of those, not a traveller but a saloon, and that is the right engine. It's a 1.5 litre side-valve much like an overgrown Minor side-valve. My personal preference is for the later Oxford with the OHV engine, the one that became the Indian Hindustan.

Love the bench seat, it would be like a magnet at a Minor show.

If it has spent all its life on the Isle of Wight then the mileage could well be genuine and that is the original side valve engine. Maintenance costs would be a lot higher than a Minor but well worth having.

Wow thats nice. I had a 52 saloon once for a while, can't say it was a pleasure to drive though.

With 44 bhp on tap I don't suppose the performance is startling.

I'd love an Oxford MO, but the rarity of spare parts would put me off somewhat. A Six MS would be wonderful but I suspect the parts situation is even worse. Anyone tried fitting a front bench seat to a Minor? :P
