never mind the dustpan and brush - it'll need a spade and some wheelie bins to shift what's fallen off ;-)
Would be a good project tho!

Added the view from the rear, hope you all enjoy.
Hope to recover the van later in the year, short , summer window to do it.
I could really do with removing the engine, before I try and move it, now how do you do that
in the middle of a forest ? See you all at Knebworth !
Off to work.

i imagine it'll be easy to remove the engine from that. just try to tow the van out. the engine will probably stay where it is!

Well, that's a good idea, and would save me a lot of trouble, but the idea is to remove the van the van with sympathy.
Having saved and recovered, four simalar vans in 2002, three are now fully restored, this rare van will get the same treament from me.[frame]

Fantastic to hear you've taken it on! The high price of scrap these days is making it far too tempting (for some, at least) to weigh cars like this in.

Engine is easier. Engine + gearbox is harder!
Remove front panel + radiator - this takes time. The wings are scrap so you can chisel a few inches away from the hockey stick rather than mess with the hockey stick fixings. The bottom of the front panel (6 or 8 bolts) can be a pain but if you are lucky they will snap when given some grief with mole grips (or if you are lucky the bolts have rotted away or the seam has already parted company)
Then undo g.box bellhousing bolts and starter motor - you may need to jack up under engine to get the bottom ones so do that first.
With a trolley jack under engine lift it until the rubbers are stressed - then if they don't spilt away, unbolt the rubbers from the towers and seperate from towers with a big screwdriver.
Then just manhandle the engine away from the car - it should come a few inches and then you find out what else is attached.
Slice the heater hoses. Exhaust looks like it has already gone. You may need to snip throttle and clutch cables - if they look re-usable you could undo them instead of snipping them!

Thanks for the support everyone, I'll keep you updated on progress, It's no more special than the first and last Minor's that ran off the production line. But, it deserves a chance. It's a shame to see so many Minor's on ebay, many that that need TLC, but don't sell. I fear the worst for them. Regarding the van, Got to finish what I started, it's recovery. Looking forward to Knebworth.

Me too. Unfortunately it makes me want to buy them all

. If I ever win the lottery (unlikely since I don't play), I'd probably spend my days restoring down-at-heel Minors and selling them on at a loss to people who'd take good care of them.
