New MG6 advert
Anyone seen this? The MGB looks so much nicer than the new thing.
Give me the B any day.

Re: New MG6 advert
I wonder what ad exec thought that one up?
It really points up how dull cars have become, man in classic sports car gets overtaken by another boring hot hatch.

I thought it looked like an old Renault Megane with MG badges in perfect condition.

Re: New MG6 advert
I'm not a lover of it, but I think they have played safe (looks very Nissan Primera of the nineties). Also this car has been designed for the Chinese market.. hopefully within time once the cash proves promising we will get our own European versions with different style of body skins on the same base car. Lets hope the new TF replacement in two years is cutting edge.

Re: New MG6 advert
It will need to be. The same has happened to the MGF/TF as happened to the MGB 30 years ago, in production for far too long. Thats not to say they are bad cars, not at all.

Re: New MG6 advert
It's quite the crummiest ad I have ever seen. I doubt it will temp any MG owners to think they should dump their open top B for that []

Re: New MG6 advert
Looks like you all speak as one! Harsh judgement from watching an ad. I'd have thought a more detailed appraisal would be needed before condemnation.

Re: New MG6 advert
The reviews I've read seem to be quite positive (particularly with regards to the price and how it drives), with the downsides being the quality of the interior, and the fact the only engine currently offered is a 1.8 turbocharged petrol which isn't terribly efficient.
I wish it well, but it's a complex modern car and therefore I wouldn't buy one.

Re: New MG6 advert
I don't think we have been particularly harsh, but then I'm biased.
I'd take a distinctive car over another hatchback any day.
If you want a more balanced view, go to a hatchback forum.

Re: New MG6 advert
The engine is terrible - I'm amazed anyone buys a spark ignition engine these days unless it comes with an LPG kit -turbo diesel is the way.......

Re: New MG6 advert
it is 'a' way and is more fuel efficient but by no means is it the only way, and by no means will it ever be the only way...turbo diesel is the way.......
Some of us have to keep up with leading edge technology, and whilst Diesels are leading in many aspects they simply can't meet every requirement.

Re: New MG6 advert
I'll also stick to the MGB. I find modern "fridgeboxes" claustrophobic - low roof and very small windows - bit like modern houses really

Re: New MG6 advert
Theres a recent development BMC involving laser ignition - which has the potential to bring the efficiency of petrol engines up to and beyond the compression ignition engines
