Mgf wheels are the popular choice. They are a cheapish option for some nice alloys, with a decent selection. Their 'space saver' steel wheel has also been used if you want to keep with the steels look. Small chassis triumphs (eg spitfire herald) also have the same stud pattern (3 3/4" pcd)?

you can also look for montego and maestro wheels..

do not be put off by the term space saver the mgf space savers normal 14 inch normal wheels are 175 cross section are readily available with plenty of tread for less than 15 each.

As the others have said MGF/Maestro wheels are a way to better looking wheels. I used MGF Alloys on my Minor with Marina discs and Marina rear axle but one thing I found is that you have to swap the studs to 12mmx 1.5mm wheel studs available from various suppliers like Midland Wheel Supplies who can also supply the correct wheel nuts.

nice looking car, and the over drive on 3rd and 4th is nice, i had it on a saloon and it makes a great deal of difference.

these are the mgf space savers..

the hub cap does not fit straight on by the way you need to add some lugs..

and on the car, for me they fill the arches better than the smaller ital wheels..[frame]Image[/frame]

Apologies for the thread hijack but Charlie I wondered if you could post a pic of the inside of the hub cap to see how you fitted lugs to attach them to the wheels? I haven't used them in anger but I got these spare wheels for winter use and the hub cap might finish them a bit better.

er..

i hoped you were not going to ask that...

I am intending to put three screw-in "pip" type things into the wheel itself to replicate the way the series 2 hub caps are held on.

if you do not know what the S2 wheels look like..

Thats fine thanks, I have MGF Spare wheels for use in the winter and I was just curious as to how the hub cps would be fitted. :)

Thought about minilights??

Ive a set of 'Super light' Mini light alloys I dont require any more.

Ive these for sale! Message me, heathy12@hotmail.com

They fit standard marina hubs, as they came off a traveller running Marina running gear!

for a more traditional Minor wheel look, try googling chrome smoothies.

You can get these in a number of pcd options - I've seen them on a Minor with Ford PCD. They were painted body colour on the inner section and left chrome on the rim.

Thanks for all your help, im either going to keep with the marina wheels as they look pretty standard with the chrome hubcaps or get some minilites. Paul

Although 5 years later, here's a picture of interest for anyone considering fitting MGF spare wheels to their Minor:

Image

Dad's fitted a set to his Traveller as they came with the original tyres; although I think there needs to be some slight adjustment to either the suspension or tyre profile. Still they show how they look with hubcaps fitted.

Hope this is useful to someone.
