Bearing thickness
I am rebuilting a 1098 engine which I was given last week. The engine is in very good condition apart from number 2 big end bearings which are scored in the centre. Due to the oil hole blocked which I think is the cause, it has some light scoring on the crankshaft at the same place. I am going to fit new big end bearings and probably get the crankshaft reground. The question I ask is does anyone know what the standard size of big end bearings are ? The bearings that I removed has the bmc part number on them but they don't say STD (for standard) or oversized which I was expecting. Before I think about getting the crankshaft machined I need to know what bearings are fitted to the engine.
Re: Bearing thickness
Just get a complete exchange crank from Bull Motif - it's a screaming bargain, and will come complete wuith the necessary replacement bearing shells. Get a new oilpump too........

Re: Bearing thickness
Indeed - Bully seem to have put their prices up - but check with ESM if that price is current. It IS a bargain - act quickly!!
