hi
my morris runs happy enough most of the time, but when im coasting down hill it starts pinking, and occasionally when i take my foot off to change gear - where should i start ? - it may be the exhaust which may be slightly too short (it catches on the body under the back seats), iv already attempted to adjust the mix to make it richer and that hasnt done anything - is it likely to be timing - its an old leaded 1098 and i have tried using valve master additive with four star LRP - it seems to improve if i leave the choke out one notch, thats why i presumed it was the mix ....

anyway
all help appreciated

cheers

Pinking sometimes occurs when the engine is working hard when you are going uphill. It is a sharp knocking noise coming from the engine.

I think that what you are describing is the Morris Minor engine roar. Have a look at what Willie says in the Stainless Steel Exhaust section. (7 down from here.)
