Ummmm, I've got 3 doors which all would benefit from new bottom skins and maybe the lower bit of outer skin. I've bought the new panels from ESM (look like they were dropped during packing so need some careful re-bending )

The problem is that all 3 doors seem to have a curve at the bottom of the door where the door lines up against the sill filler piece that bolts to the sill. It almost looks like the doors have bent out at the rear edge after years of rubber seals pushing them outwards at the rear edge, if you see what I mean. Can anyone with a nice car have a look at theirs and maybe hold a long straight edge against the door bottom to see if theirs kicks out or is straight? My little sill panels are quite knackered and of little use in taking dimensions.

Also, these old 1949 doors are quite a bit different to the later 1965 door that I had in the shed. Holes in different places, no tack gas welds, no flat area for door glass rubber strips to clip to etc.

if you look in your official manual it will show a kit to fit seals to glass to old style doors

Good point! It also mentions moving the door seal by dropping the holes about 2 inches which is what they've already done on these repair panels. Means I can't use them.

I can see the problem with the repair panels.

Can you seperate the two parts and just use the botton section?

To be honest, the work required to separate the panels is going to be more than fabricating a new one. I bought an F.J. Edwards depth-adjustable geared roller joddler (???) from an old factory so I can feed the sheet in with my left hand and turn the handle with my right. Easier than doing it by hand on an old bit of angle iron!

One fold, one joddle, job done!

Well, OK, a few joddles, some swearing, 2 bruised knuckles, some cut fingers, 2 cups of tea, 1 biscuit etc etc etc.....later

I'm guessing this is designed to go in the slot in an anvil? The base tapers down to a truncated point and doesn't fit well in a vice or workmate. It is just residing there for the photo and goes in a big vice, normally.[frame][/frame]
