Was there ever any seam sealant on the bodyshells? I'm obviously going to do seams underneath the shell but wondered what was originaly done round the engine bay and wings.
Any ideas or pics? Any suggestions for materials?
Thanks.

Every seam on the car is " potentially " a rust trap waiting to happen......eventually ( it may be a few years ,but ).
Unless you are a concours fanantic ( ? ) sealer everywhere on the seams will help stave off the tin worms having a meal.
A brushable sealer is good and personally I would go for a brand name, something like 3M.You are only going to do it once, hopefully.
Best course, if you have a Trade automotive paint supplier nearby is to pop in and discuss their recommendations.
Nothing nearby ? Bend the ear of a local bodyshop/crash repair place.Give them the sob story explaining your dilema and they might sell some to you or order something suitable on your behalf.

I think mine came from Flea bay.
In the engine bay, on mona, there was a tar like substance in the seams (I knwo because the paint attached it and it looked "pants" until I resprayed the bay (removing all the tar in the process)
