horrace starts ok when cold and runs fine, but the other day i stalled him, (i normally drive a diesel) then he wouldnt start again for about 15mins then ran fine again, its done it twice no, did i read somewhere else on here that this is due to the coil packing? i know they never break though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't speak for Minor's specifically, but I had a fuel line touching the carb dashpots on another vehicle. This meant that as soon as the fuel stopped flowing when hot, it would get a vapor lock, preventing the engine from re-starting. I re-routed the pipes and have never had the same problem since.
Hope this helps,
Tom.

It's 'never' the coil....... Indeed look to the fuel system - either lack of (due to the vapours) or excess of due to the carb float bowl flooding over.

I have had three cars with exactly this problem,a renault 5, an mgb,and an citroen bx changed the coil and fine after that.I think a more appropriate phrase would be its seldom the coil but sometimes can be

Which is what i imply by putting the 'never' in the 'inverted commas'......

Indeed it can sometimes be the coil - but many want to jump in there as the first 'fix' for every and any problem - and some of the new coils on sale these days seem to be short lived . So, I suggest a good old coil seems to be the most reliable way these days.

One possible cause is a sticking throttle slide - if it sticks up you will have trouble starting when hot and it will be much more prone to stalling.

What colour were the plugs - if it's right - they should be very light beige.
