Brake Lights

I have just noticed that my brake lights arent working.
I used a jumper wire and touched both sides where the wires feed in on the switch and the lights work.
Does that mean the switch is faulty and I will have to replace the switch?

Hello Sirrom,
yes; as they tend to be tight, make sure that you get a good grip on the fitting before trying to unscrew the switch or you'll risk kinking or fracturing the brake line(s).

Hi Sirrom,
I had the same problem a few weeks ago and checked the switch by jumping the feeds too.
After that I got a new switch and fitted it. Everything is fine now.

Managed to undo. Alec you were right about it being tight.
Rotgnom sounds like we had same problem. Now just have to source a switch.

Managed to source one locally, last one they had on shelf, but two connectors are spade connectors instead of screws. Fit at weekend and see how it goes. Have seen postings how long some new ones last. Cant see new one lasting as long as one that was removed, if that was original then it lasted 49 years.

Apparently even the crappy new ones will last a good while if you fit a relay.
