valve pattern

Hi there

Silly litle question: I've just replaced a set of valve springs and meant to record the inlet/exhaust pattern, as can't seem to find this in any literature. Anyway, I forgot and now it is all back together...
Starting from 1 (Front/thermostat end) to 8 what is the pattern? I seem to recall

1- Inlet
2-Exhaust
3-Exhaust
4-Inlet

After that it's a bit of a blur! :o

Thanks, Paul

Exhaust
Inlet
Inlet
Exhaust
Exhaust
Inlet
Inlet
Exhaust

That pattern looks just like the inlet/exhaust manifold to me. what a coincidence!

Not sure why it matters, the valve fits in the hole in fits in, and all the springs are the same arent they?

Cheers Chris

Yeah they all go in the holes they fit in, but I was toying with opening the exhaust clearances slightly more than the inlet's as discussed somewhere earlier on this board. The car hasn't been converted to unleaded and this has been put forward as an alternative to the conversion.

Logic told me they would probably follow the manifold arrangements but just wanted to be certain

Yes - 15 thou for the exhausts. And check/reset every 3000 miles. You must retorque the cylinder head after the first heat cycle - and reset the valve gaps again.

Well, all valves reseated, new springs, the head is re-torqued, clearances set, some new coolant and she is running like a dream. 17 year old daughter's first spannering of major surgery on her car and I think she's hooked judging by the expression on her face when we fired her up. :D
