Van / Pick-up Seat Belt Fixing - Got a Photo?

Help - Usual story I'm afraid. Disassembled it all last Autumn as part of a quick fix that has proved to be anything but resulting in parts being moved from place to place a number of times and me forgetting how the seat belts fix back into my pickup.

Would any of you good chaps happen to have a photograph or two of where the end of the belt should be fixed? Behind the inertia reel? Beside it? On the floor near the sills? Top fixing and reel position I have got but I'm at a loss as to where the other end was before I removed it.

I may have got a bit carried away when welding up holes in the floor and filled them in. I have a new set of belts with an illustration that suggests that it may be fixed to the same captive nut as the reel but the bracket on the old seat belts is angled, has a bolt nut and heavy duty washer attached which suggests it should be floor fixed. But where?

The only thing written on them is LIV on the receiver end. Here is a sketch. Any Help? I can't work out if it should be somewhere around A or B.[frame]Image[/frame]

The bit you have marked 'this end' should fit behind the bottom of the reel at the floor probably with a spacer to allow it to turn and both bits are screwed into the floor using the same bolt :-?

love the drawing. yes this end goes behind the inertia reel. and b goes through the floor on the flat bit underneatht the seat. one each side. crawl under the chassis and you should see the captive nut and plate under the cab

Thanks guys but the "this end" is cranked and wont fit behind the inertia reel. Was the first thing I looked at.

When I took it off last year & put it to one side I bolted everything together loose, as you do, to keep it all together as a complete set. The fact that it has a very large ( 1"1/4 x 3/16 ) very rusty flat washer with a 1/2 bolt through it hanging from "this end" tells me it was bolted through the floor.

I think I have worked out that it was bolted through the floor about 6" in board of the reel and 4" in front of the back of the cab which would place it just behind the back leg of the seat. Or there about's but roughly at B

A photo of anybody else's set up would be very much appreciated as there is nothing in any of the manuals. Having originally been a retro fit there is bound to be a bit of variation.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

if you zoom in on this pic you can see where the bolt goes through the floor. about 6 inches away from the handbrake ridge. this is what the catch part of the seat belt fixes to.

if yours was a retro fit then it could have been put anywhere but the bolt and large washer suggest going through the floor.
if it were me id just buy a new set they are only £30 for a pair and seeing as it could save your life i wouldnt bother with a second hand or refitting an old one especially if it was fitted by someone else before.
let me know if you want any more pics

Thanks Horrace - yours is looking nice. I'm only doing a patch up to make it usable not a full restoration.

The receiver ends have been bolted down through the prop shaft tunnel, through a large steel washer underneath, just behind the hand brake but I'm not going to move them. It may only be sheet steel but it's tubular form is strong enough.

The end anchor would normally be mounted behind the reel as David suggested but being cranked at the end needs to be mounted elsewhere. The best place would be anywhere through a structural element of the vehicle but it shouldn't matter where it goes provided it is strong and effective.

So it will be going behind and to one side of the seat roughly where I think it was before I removed them to patch the floor.

well that is spooky, and as you didn't known how to put up pictures on this website until recently, I'd have though "he's used photoshop there." but no, there's a Ghost in the machine. still at least it's a smiling well meaning one.
