Advice on rear hubs please

Post by Tony »

I am restoring a Series 2 Traveller. The rear hubs on this car don’t seem to have a groove for the rubber sealing ring (they just have a gasket) between the half shaft flange and the hub. I guess the rubber ring was a later modification?? Do these hubs work OK or should I be looking to replace them with later hubs which, I assume, will have a groove for the rubber sealing ring?

Hi

They should be fine assuming the faces are not damaged.

You can always put a smear of hylomar or even silicone on the gasket before fitting but use sparingly.
