Hi all,
Again probably been asked lots of times but could someone confirm what oil I should be putting in the gear box (modern equivelent please). Have changed the box today, done it several times in the past but forgot how many times I needed to climb under the car, probably will not be able to walk in the morning, getting to old for this, however looking forward to getting the car back on the road. Would like to attend the St Fagons bash, would be grateful for any details.

Regards,
John

Assuming that you have an A Series box then it should have engine oil

10W40 if the box is in good order and you want less drag/better economy.

Thank you all,
What a day, thought i only had about half an hour finishing off today, I had forgoten that there is no captive nut inside the chassis to hold the clutch mechanism (lost as part of the original resto when front section of chasis replaced). So up with the carpets, plenty of swearing trying to remove those pesky brass bolts that hold the interior gear box cover down, trying to get a tiny nut on the bolt inside the chasis with the brake cylinder in the way then putting it all back together. So 4 hours later some good news, the gearbox I bought about 18 years ago is a good un, thank god, I could not face all that again for a while.
Also sorted the fan problem, found the original midget fan and spacer, rather tight fit but no more blowing or knocking the oil condenser. Double check the brakes then MOT hear we come.
