I have a slight leak of hypoid oil in one of the rear axle hubs, so the seal & paper gasket should be replaced....wonder if anyone can advise as to a good puller to buy.
thanks,
Chris

The half-shaft just slides out - to replace the gasket/O ring. If you really want the hub off - just use the wheel to 'wiggle' it off.

Re: Best Hub Puller
not sure what make our hub puller is, but it works
only trouble is the 'ears' aren't that long and can slip off the edge of the hub if you're not carefull. the other issue is big bolt that pushes against the middle. with no half shaft in you're left with a big hole that the bolt can't push against. you need to slot something in there for it to push against, like a perfectly sized socket or a nice thick washer, but if its OD is too big the bearing can't slide past it! keep meaning to turn a peferctly sized piece of metal for the job but never get around to it!
if you're buying a puller, don't get a cheap one, it probably won't last!

oh and don't forget the LH thread on the passenger side!
Re: Best Hub Puller
Cheap method if its tight like mine was
A nice piece of 1/4 plate drilled to the wheel stud pcd and a socket or rod fitting in the recess on the axle shaft.... tighten the wheel nuts evenly and add some packing if necessary to get it right off.
Taupe
