Tyres again!

Just spotted a Chevrolet Spark round the corner from my house and I noticed that they have 155/70x14 tyres on them. A readily available supply of tyres for Minors?
OK they're slightly smaller diameter, but not too far out, and by my calculation it'll make the speedo read about 2% fast.

The difference in diameter from a standard 155/80x14 tyre is 31mm or 5.13% smaller

Some research suggests a Curb weight (mfr’s est): 2300 lb for a Chevrolet Spark, whatever curb weight means.

Kerb weight is the weight of the car with all lubricants and a full tank of fuel plus spare wheel and tools

That's slightly heavier than a Minor...

Hello Marky,
curb weight is American for kerb weight.

Thanks, I'd worked that bit out.
I was looking for gross weight as there isn't any fuel or oil as such in an electric car.
For some reason I couldn't find this for a Spark.

I know it's called the Spark, but it's not an electric car, it's just a rather dull Korean hatchback.
The forthcoming electric car is called the 'Volt'

Also known as Daewoo Matiz. And in China a Chery QQ, but that's another story!

Calling it a spark is a clever bit of marketing, I jumped to the conclusion it was electric

.
The kerb or curb weight of the Chevrolet Volt is 3,781 lb (1,715 kg)

The Toyo tyres I bought had very flexible sidewalls, required pumping up to around 32psi to gain any confidence in them, (mostly noticeable on the rear of my Traveller). I believe others may have had similar experiences. Certainly nice and grippy, though!
