Are there any difference in 948 and 1098 lever?

I assume you mean the gear stick lever, if so I believe there are differences as a friend swapped a gearbox both 1098 ones over and found that the gear lever touched the front seat in one of the gears, but when the one from the original one was re-fitted all was ok so there must be a difference.

There may be a difference in the angle of the lever. I seem to remember from the distant past that an A 40 lever was shorter than a Minor one. The 1098 lever in a 1275 Midget box gets in the way of the handbrake in reverse.

Yes there is a difference. I dont think they are interchangeable. I would have to compare them side by side to see differences. When I fitted a ribbed box to replace smooth casing was told to make sure that I got a ribbed gearlever with the box

Yes there is a difference at the bottom of the lever. Also a number of differences in the crank angle, overall length etc., but they do not affect the basic interchangeability.

The dimension from the spherical ball and the lower ball where the plastic thrust button fits is shorter on the 948 than the 1098. From experience many years ago fitting a 948 lever into a 1098 gearbox, results in a very long throw and rather horrible gearchange - mush better to fit the right one!
