Go back to the garage and ask for a copy? If they are 'friendly' they should give you it for nothing - or at least tell you when it's up for renewal - although I think you can get that on-line. And if you retax the car online - you don't need the cert anyway.

What do you need it for?
It's a database system now so all you need to know is the date to get the new test done, or....

All your documentation is on central computer which is what the police refer to if you get pulled and you can tax it on line so you do not need the certificate unless maybe you are taking the car abroad or you have forgotten when the MOT is due.
My garage always sends out a reminder.

Aye - but you need the test station ref number..... Ok if you use the same test station each year - get it from the old certificate.

thank you all - i assumed i might need it to prove that at least on one date that lily B was in good nick - but yes, you're all right, all this is stuff is online anyway, and i'm sure the garage texted me last year to remind me.
One thing though - every time i have tried to retax the car online i have had the whole "computer says no" nonsense and had to go to get the nice post office lady to hand write out the words "historic vehicle"........
ok - no more stupid questions this weekend!

Check the car details are correct on the computer. Do your registration docs agree?
You will need the MOT cert for the PO but you have the satisfacion of getting to the front of the queue and asking for your free tax disc in a loud clear voice

If I try to tax online on my home PC - it says no. On the laptop it works... Same goes with bank websites.
Days and days of trying to sort it, trawling dozens of forums etc... and no change.
