Any ideas how you can tell what key number mates to an ignition barrel? Neither of Agathas keys are stamped

find someone with a rack of FP and FS keys and try each one in turn? that's how i did mine! but i was able to get pretty close just by looking at the key profile and comparing it to ones on the rack.

I got a new key when the old key kept dropping out of the barrel!
The production trace certificate will list the original lock no.
I can't imagine anyone being willing to let you wander off to your car with their rack of keys

if you look through the keys with your existing one, to narrow it down to half a dozen contenders, you're more likely to be allowed to try those out to make sure. or if the boot lock is the same key as the ignition, take the boot handle off and try each key in turn.

Boot lock definatly is not the same - its a shame, I know that number

I've also contacted the previous owners to see if they had any idea but alas not.

Bit of a hassle but it should be stamped on the side of the barrell - but you will have to remove it from the dash to read it!

If you have a key that fits you can remove the barrel and replace with another one that has numbered keys! Or if you take your key to one of the car show sellers you will be able to see the type; FS, FP etc. and then find one with a matching cut. Simples

Good luck if you do find a number. I got two keys cut to the number on mine (which matches the No on the original key) and they don't work or look anything like the original!
