chassis number should start MAT (T for tourer) as opposed to MAS (S for saloon)
re-enforcing panels (gussets between A post and dash) should be spot welded in, not seem welded, although that could be a case of a repair at some point in its life, as opposed to a conversion. chassis number is the key!

I presume its actually MA2S5 I believe that chassis number refers to post 68, 1098cc 2door saloon, delux spec.
See this page, half way down for chassis info

Thanks for the info, most interesting, so this obviously would confirm, that this is a 2 door Minor,
thats been made into a Convertable ? if you want you can have a look at the car in question, it,s
on e bay, with the item number 130500935456, the seller will accept £3,000 and not a penny less,
all opinions will be most welcome, cheers.

first of all establish if the seller was /is deliberatly misleading you,if so then why? There is nothing wrong with a properly converted saloon as long as its been done correctly,i.e. the right strengthers are used and fitted correctly,i own a factory made tourer but would, ave happily purchased a converted saloon if one had been available. If your happy with his version of description then check, check and check again for rust, welding etc,a converted saloon will always be cheaper than an original by approx. £1000/£2000 depending on condition, try and take someone in the know with you, don,t be too eager and good luck

Just had a look at the car on ebay he,s now put the chassis no. on for all to see it,s recently been painted which can cover a multitude of sins however it might,ve been done professionaly, best thing is to be hands on and take a damn good look with minor clued up person i know it,s tempting i,ve been there but don,t let your head rule your hard earned cash
