Is the spark sparking at the spark plug? If so (and everything was ok before and nothing else is changed) it's most likely timing.

If you moved the distributer you may have moved the timing too far out to start the car. You can re-fit the points and set the timing statically, then swap back. That said I would refit the points and make sure the engine runs properly before switching back (but then again, if it were my car I would keep the points).

Silly question, did you refit the rotor arm?

Just to be clear - the car was running nicely, you then fitted electronic ignition - and now it won't start ? Is that the situation??
If so - refit the points ! Electronic ignition is just not worth the hassle - story after story like this on the Mini forums - and now I see also on Triumph forum too.......

If you removed the distributor then you have probably put it back what 'looks' like the same way but you may well have the gear wheel one or two teeth out. You need to follow the instructions in a workshop manual to ensure you get the distributor in correctly.

What happens is - the electronic parts when fitted in the dizzy don't make the spark at precisely the same position as the points did - so some twiddling back and forth is necessary to get the engine started - then adjust for best compromise of good idling and not-quite-pinking.

thank you all

I got car sorted now, this what happened, cam spindle in distributor was loosed so weights came off, i took it off the cam spindle, i put it back but not the same way, i didn't know matter which way it goes but it does. goes into 180d out.

I m using electronic ignition, is great, i can feel diffident, performance good. recommended electronic ignition
