After looking through my garage yesterday (Sat 19th) I noticed that my Morris was 1st registered by the Cardiff City Police Force on the 19th March 1968. I am not the person to get very sentimental about cars having birthdays and the like but what have we gone through over those years past. We had:
Steve Mcqueen racing around the streets of San Francisco in his 1968 Ford Mustang GT. in the award winning film Bullitt. Mark Lester, Ron Moody & Oliver Reed also had film success with Oliver.
The Americans were busy sending Rockets to space with the Apollo 6, 7, & 8 along with the Soyuz 2 & 3.
Dads Army was 1st shown on Brittish tv along with Childrens program Magpie.
Actors Dinal Craig & Catherine Tate were born.
Tony Hancock and Bud Flanigan & Enid Blyton Died.
The Krays twins are arrested for crimes such as Murder & fraud.
The Beatles have their debuts with Yellow Submarine in London.
Need I go on.....
For what's it's worth. Happy Birthday Sargent Morris.

Indeed, Happy Birthday Sargent Morris!! :D

Coincidentally, Xog has his birthday this week; he's 40 on 23 March,...

...and in 1971...
  • The Beatles were already history(Just three years later!)
  • The BBC Open University began
  • A new stock market index called the Nasdaq started
  • The United Kingdom and Ireland both switch to decimal currency (my poor old Gran never got the hang of the new fangled money!!)
  • Joe Frazier defeated Muhammad Ali at Madison Square Garden
  • Charles Manson was sentenced to death
  • People's Republic of Bangladesh was formed
  • A tsunami 85 m high rose over the Ryukyu Islands in Japan (Spooky! - there were floods in Bangladesh and eastern Bengal and horrific earthquakes in Turkey as well.)
  • Britain began new negotiations for EEC membership in Luxembourg (Oh dear!)
  • Jim Morrison, leader of The Doors was found dead in his bathtub
  • Walt Disney World opened in Orlando, Florida
  • Rev. Ian Paisley's Democratic Unionist Party was formed and a day later a bomb exploded at the top of the Post Office Tower
  • Intel released the world's first microprocessor
  • The Montreux Casino burned down during a Frank Zappa concert (The event was later imortalisedin the Deep Purple song "Smoke on the Water")
For making it to the grand old age of 40, his wood is being restored and his upholstery is about to be replaced.

What did you get for Sargent Morris?
