i need a replacement clutch for my 948 minor, and not sure whether to go for a borg and beck clutch kit, or an AP original. can anyone advise what the pros and cons might be, if any, of going for the cheaper option?

AP and B&B were both OE suppliers so the quality should be equal.

Are either of them still made in the UK?

The trouble with brand names is that the names and reputations get sold to the highest bidder who promptly moves production somewhere cheap, like China.

well, bull motif warn about cheap imitations, and guarantee that their borg and beck is the genuine article.
so probably go with that.
thanks for the input

I think AP Drivelines bought the part of Borg and Beck that made clutches some time ago, but I don't know what happened after the UK factory shut down a couple of years ago.

Ap driveline did buy borg and beck, but have recently in the 18months sold the brand name to a chinese company.

New stock Borg and Beck are now made in china. Bull motif promote the ap driveline clutch as the best option currently (unipart ones apart to made by ap driveline).

In all honesty mind, I purchased one of the chinese borg and beck kits and they seem okay to me - fitted a treat and in the exception of the more modern plate itself (all new ones are the same) looked just as good quality as the british made borg and beck clutch i fitted previously.
