When did demisters start on MMs?

Any ideas of the date/chassis number when the cut-outs for demisters were added on lowlight 2-doors? I'm going to look at a 2-door from mid June 1950 but it has a few features which look slightly out of context with the chassis number, if you see what I mean.

The dash should have no central ash tray and no main beam warning light.
Demisters introduced Sept 50, SMM 62551 RHD, 65004 LHD according to Original Morris Minor. They were not very effective without the optional heater kit! If you really want the demisters to work you need the USHM3 engine with water pump and heater, or open the quarter lights
Could you PM me the chassis no. please

This one is may/june 1950, has demister slots, a waterpump block, outside hinge quaterlights, split bumpers, no window weatherstrip, handle escutcheons, a gold steering column, an export oilbath filter and no ashtray.
Something odd going on?

Hi Rob,
My 1950 Tourer (It was an export model) was purchased here in Canada April 29 1950, build date was January I think. It has demister slots although it did not come with a heater.[frame]

[/frame] You can see them here. I have since improved the instrument panel and found an original steering wheel but this is the first shot I could find of the slots.

Thanks Darrell.
I'm guessing that export cars had the slots cut in them at an earlier date than UK cars or that the records are wrong. The oil bath filter in the photos of this one I'm going to see suggest it was re-imported at some point so that all ties up a bit better.

Mine is May 1950 and has the demisters cut into the dash though no heater. I had to change the door tops on mine to later ones as the originals were very rotten, like wise the steering wheel was changed to a series 11 one as almost all the bakelite had flaked off the original one and it was down to the cast iron so I wouldnt worry too much about these things.

Rob,
My 1950 tourer was built in late July 1950 and was exported and ended up in California. It has an oil bath filter and the vents. During a visit ti BHMIT at Gaydon I had a look at the production log. This indicated that cars going to the US had high wings and a heater fitted hence the vents i assume![frame]

My Feb 1950 has no demister slots or holes for heater hoses next to the reglator box, My 1950 June had demister slots but had to drill the holes for the hoses to fit a Smiths heater and optional waterpump running off the dynamo.
