Hi. Just need some advise on which parts supplier is the best. My rear axle and prop are in need of a complete overall, and I will probably need new everything. I certainly need a new axle casing as mine has corroded around the spring mountings and is leaking gear oil. and as i'm changing the axle I might as well change all the brake parts as well including break drums and back plates. The half shafts and diff have also signs of wear and will probably need changing too and the prop will need a recon as I'm aware that new props are not available. So as you can see a major job is needed and I would like to know who can supply all my needs with good quality products.

Any of the morris suppliers should be able to sort you out with the parts you need. Try ESM, Bull Motif, B'ham Morris Minor Centre. It really depends on where you are located in the country. If you're near a supplier it would be cheaper to collect as postage on these parts will be expensive because they are heavy. If you post a location it would help.

As Lou says - depends very much where you are. NEW (ie reconditioned) parts will be extremely expensive - but you can probably pick up perfectly good parts quite cheaply. The fitting of the parts is not difficult - one of the easier jobs on a Minor !

The prop probably needs a new set of UJs which are cheap enough. It is worth checking the prop shaft bolts.
Secondhand prop shafts should be easy enough to find, I think I have one in my garage.
Don't go changing parts unnecessarily, you will be wasting your money, just change the consumables, ie brake shoes, wheel cylinders if they are faulty, brake fluid. Differentials will go on for ever, half shafts will be OK as long as you keep them the same way round and unless you have rust problems the back plates should be OK as will the drums

A big thank you to all who replied. Have decided to get most of my spares from ESM and with closer inspection the halfshafts and diff will probably be ok to reuse. I have managed to get the prop reconditioned by a firm close to me called "Mr Quickshaft" He is situated at Furnness Vale, High Peak, and the price was reasonable. The brake back plates and drums are certainly past there best though and definitely need replacing. Will keep you posted on the progress and if I need any more advice.
