With regards to the trim, i have been asked if it has duo-tone, the trim i removed was vinly and to be honest i assume its the orginal trim from new????

Its a March 1964 build, can anybody advise me please

rather simply, a duo-tone interior has two colours on it. mine for example has red and cream interior, for which the middle section of the door cards and seats are cream, with everything else being red.

Duo-tone interior was used on deluxe models from mid '61 up to October '64 so it depends if your car is a deluxe or not. Check the chassis number. If the 5th prefix is a 'D' it's a deluxe model eg MA2SD

have found the old door cards and they are black with no other colour but will check the chassis tonight

an easy rule of thumb for that year, if its a pull start its a good bet its before the interior remodel and should have the duo tone seats etc, usually.
though at the cross over dates old stocks were sometimes used up first.

before i spend my hard earned wonger could somebody please confirm if mine is a deluxe and should have duo-tone and not vinyl?? it has vinyl at present but was white in colour and not Trafalger blue so in its life it might have had different Trim along with a new colour

help, i am getting confused by the minute and that does not take much

just found a good site for reading the chassis and yes its a deluxe model so it should have duo-tone trim, can i therefore safely assume that is right ??

Well that's the chassis number for a deluxe convertible (1963 rather than '64 though), and if it was originally old english white it was likely to have had a tartan red/silver beige duo tone interior. Are you returning it to original spec? If so, and you want to be absolutely certain of the original build details before spending hundreds of pounds on a new interior, you'd be better off getting a british motor heritage certificate. It's not cheap but will include the original factory paint & trim details (their website seems to be down at the moment so I can't post you a link but do a Google search for details).

i have the cert and its down as a March 64 build and it should be Trafalgar blue with blue trim, wiht a pearl gray hood.

So intend to return to its correct colour/trim

The heritage certificate should confirm if the car is a deluxe model or not - mine does.

So its blue/white duo-tone for me, it looks like i am returing her to her former glory

I can only assume that the blue/white duo tone trim would not go with the respray of white so it was swapped for black trim??
