Locked Out !!

So, we were in the Peak District of Derbyshire today and found a nice little parking space in Castleton :D :D (for those who aren't aware this is a popular and picturesque village). It has been a lovely sunny day around these parts. :D :D
I squeezed Alice in and parked quite close to a dry stone wall (the Peak District is full of 'em) locking the driver's door from the inside I exited the car from the passenger door, all OK so far. :D :D
Returning to the car after a couple of hours I attempted to gain entry by simply squeezing between the wall and the car and putting the key into the highly secure lock   , and guess what! I have discovered that if you lock the driver's door from the inside they key ain't gonna unlock it    . Who knew
It's the first time that I have wished that people weren't so interested in our pride and joy  . After thinking around the problem the obvious came to mind, enter through the back seat of course :D , how could I have not thought of this sooner. I don't know whether it's a standard fit but the back of our rear seat is held in place by a couple of wing nuts, what a brilliant idea :D . A few turns later and there I was, back legs dangling out of the boot reaching to unlock the back door  . I'm sure nobody noticed :D :D

:-? Oops! Thanks for the reminder Skodge, I know we have been caught out before by the locking inside lark but thankfully there was just enough room for the skinnier member of the family to unlock the door! Good to see you had a sense of humour about it all!

They have been available since canals were invented in the 19th Century. The 'doors' are called gates and help the boats go up and down.

Seriously though, don't give too much away. Rif-raff read messageboards too.

Oh dear,

My key seems to have stopped working and I am now locked out of George.

I will have to try and get in tomorrow through the boot or talk to my friendly locksmith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It might be that your lock needs lubricating. Spray a little WD40 on the key and try inserting this again. Wriggle the key around in the lock gently. They sometimes stick. Hope this helps.

try getting the key cut again, then ask the cutter to take the shoulder back

This thread made me giggle. I've climbed through the rear seat before - I had just left the keys in the building and couldn't be bothered to get them. Boot was unlocked anyway

I've also had to climb in through the boot (now I've refitted the boot lock making it lockable it'll no longer be an option....)
It was my first day driving my newly acquired Morris to work, my partner had very kindly unlocked my door from inside after I had unlocked her door. On arrival, I got out to show a few friends under the bonnet leaving the engine running- Lindsay got out locking her door - and I couldn't get in again. Somewhat embarrassing - but it provided endless amusement for my colleagues!
