I don't know much about sand/shot blasting. Dipping seems to be the way it's done now and http://www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk or http://www.prostrip.co.uk advertise in Practical Classics so might be worth a look. Jonathon on the other site seems to get a few shell dipped http://mog.myfreeforum.org/index.php so might be worth joining this site and send a PM to jonathon H and this is his website http://www.jlhmorrisminors.co.uk

i'm not an expert by any means, but i believe shot blasting can distort panels quite easily due to the forces involved, especially on large flat panels (like a bonnet for instance). sand blasting is a fair bit more gentle and should just take off what you want!

i believe acid dipping can be in the £1000+ region, and it gets rid of EVERYTHING! so any wiring, filler, lead loading, roof linings... all gone! gives you a nice shiny bare metal to work with, but then you have fun going right down all the nooks and crannies like chassis legs trying to re-paint everything!

the esteemed Mr H that Jefftav mentions uses a process called 'e-coating' which acid dips, and then coats it all too, which gets right in all the hard to reach places. trouble is, you need to drill a hole in the roof (not such an issue for convertibles...) to let the air bubble out when it goes under! e-coating is a £3000 job :o

Shot blasting (sand is illegal to use nowadays) ought to cost £600 and take 3 days to give you a shell blasted and etch primed. Expect holes as per dipping but any competent blaster can drop the pressure to prevent the heat distortion that blasting can bring.
Make sure you get a guaranteed completion date, take photos of all areas so you can claim for any damage, expect to have to hoover it out for weeks before painting, buy a dehumidifier to keep the primed shell rust-free in the garage until painted and get some decent de-ruster for inside box sections.
Dipping will not leave much change out of £2500 if you get it coated as well.
If you are looking at using anyone located a few miles north of Lyneham then I'd advise you to look elsewhere unless you want a long wait and then legal action to get your car back.

PM me for details if required.

paint stripper - probably less than £100 worth, plus about 3 days to do the exterior paint, a huge amount of stuff to clean up off the floor, and a wrecked set of clothes ( and unless it's well ventilated you can get some health problems too..)

For removing the hard black floor-protection stuff, a heat gun and a scraper, then a rotary wire brush on the angle grinder and a day or two is needed. The rotary wire brush will also remove most of the rust from inner wings etc..

Shot blasting - be careful of panel distortion.
Sand blasting (using legal sand equivalent) will puit a lot of mess in all the sills, chassis legs, A posts, B-posts - C posts, rear chassis extensions etc..
