Im trying to get my gf's stepdads morris running. its a 71 traveller.
I STUPIDLY took the pipe connecting the float chamber to the carb off and now i cant get it to go back on....
Its a brass nut with a sheathed pipe and it doesnt seem to be biting when i screw it back on and petrol leaks everywhere...
any tips?

sounds like the brass flange has stripped
you may have to buy a new one

You may have lost the olive or O ring that fits over the pipe in front of the brass fitting

hey thanks for the replies.
I ended up taking off the carb entirely as the valve bit below the dashpot is very sticky and as I understand it, needs to move freely with air intake. I got the pipe back on feeding the needle, I just mised the o-ring 1st time
Any tips on cleaning up the carb? I have ordered a new set of gaskets, just wondering if a small amount of petrol to soak it in will suffice?
Cheers
Will

To get the throttle slide to move freely, try to avoid using any abrasive cleaner - a cloth with solvent shouldn't damage the surfaces.
