Morris LCV radial tyre size (located in USA)

I spent time reading posts but did not find an answer:

My 1967 LCV has part number LP802 rims. These accept a 14" tyre but the rim width appears to be approximately 3.00 to 3.125 inches (using a crude measurement method since tyre is still mounted).

When I review new tyre types available here in the US, they are P175/70R14 which have a stated minimum rim width requirement of 4.5 inches.

The current tyre is a Nankang 165R1484S that was probably manufactured in the 1990 to 1995 time frame and needs to be replaced for safety reasons (age not tread).

Does anyone have experience / suggestions for replacement tyres available in the US? Also any suggestions for UK product with part numbers and suppliers who would ship to the US would be very much appreciated.

Even your 165 tyres are far too wide for your rims. The maximum you should fit are 155 section, many fit 145 tyres, and in fact the nearest correct section would be 135 tyres - which are hard to find and tend to be for 'trailer' use only. The later LCVs had 4.5" wide wheels - where 155 tyres are ideal, and some fit 165. Of course - these wider wheels are hard to find, and naturally expensive ! Many suppliers in the UK stock 145 and 155 tyres (both 80 section) - but whether they will ship to USA is another matter - I believe there may be safety /liability issues?

Lockport is about 60 km from where I live in Crystal Beach (Fort Erie). I too will be buying a set of tires soon as my '67 is nearing completion and its tires are much too old. I don't know if a UK supplier will ship to you in New York as they seem to be rather shy about possible litigation. They do ship to Canada, however, as I have already bought a set of tires for my other Minor and the actually came in the mail!
