I'm hoping to fit a 2.9 in, but rover v8's are quite popular.

biggest (by capacity) i've heard is a 5.2 big block V8. Only a matter of time before someone shoe-horns a V10 or V12 in though

Someone was thinking of fitting a Spitfire engine - we assumed from a Supermarine......... Not sure how he is getting on with it.......

2.9 VR6 out of a Mk3 Golf.
Physically its quite long due the the 15 degree Vee.
