i have decided to give the old girl an interim service ,as i do a lot of short journies.i have got some 10/40 semi senthetic oil 5 litres for £11.50from bennetts .when i did this a few years ago i could not get the sump plug to seal,i put a new copper washer on too .the plug was very tight to undo, and i did not want to shear the thing when i did it up .the manual says 19lbs/ft my tourqe wrench starts at 25 has anyone got any ideas as to how tight i go .

19 ft/lb seems a little slack to me.... but then again, I'm no saab engineer. The other thing you could do is use one of those suction pumps to pull all the oil up through the dipstick hole like most garages tend to these days

The Saab copper washer is probably a crushable one, not solid.

The sump plug torque should be 37lbs/ft unless it's an auto, in which case 27lbs/ft.
(assuming it's a pre 1994 classic 900)
