8 piece crow's feet imperial wrench set.
3.8" square drive.
on a storage rail
3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 7/8
or brake pipes spanners.
has anyone used these crow's feet wrench ends on a rachet either on various nuts and brake pipe unions on the moggie and could give a review of them?

For working on brakes, the brake pipe spanner. Less fiddly to use, and it's the correct length so you're less likely to accidentally overtighten a fitting with it. I don't think you really need a whole set of brake pipe spanners. I only have one (3/8" and 7/16" AF).

actually that makes a lot of sense. however i do like those crows feet thingies. they look handy. the spanner set i am looking at is less than 20 quid for three so i will go for that and will probably never use the other ones but who knows!

I have a rail of metric crows feet and used to do quite a bit of work on cars.
its pretty rare that I use them, but when you do need them, its because noting else will do the job.
For brakes, I always use the spanner (or sometimes a deep socket for nipples) I find its useful to have 2 spanners so that I can do up in line fittings.
technically they should be used for the fuel unions too but no one ever bothers.

Hello Xpress,
the point about brake pipe spanners is the semi ring end which is a better fit on the fitting and easy to use. Crows foot spanners, if they are like the ones I have, are parallel open ended and more likely to slip and damage the union? They are useful but not a substitute for proper brake line spanners (also called flare spanners I think)?

Ih sorry, my bad, mine carry on slightly 'round the corner' so they act like a brake pipe spanner.
kinda hard to see but

Hello Ash,
yes those are equal to the brake line spanners, but I can't see any gain for that application. Excellent for difficult to reach fasteners but I suggest that xpress just buy the one spanner that he is likely to need, say 7\16" x 3\8"?
