Pertronix Ignitor help

I just installed an electronic ignition system on a Traveller and followed the instructions pretty much to the letter. The car started first time but the coil positive and negative connections were both arcing across to the high tension wire. :o Anyone know why this might be?

I think I will revert to the standard points set up tomorrow, but I fitted this for a friend and I feel like I failed!

Sounds like a problem with the insulation of the HT king lead or possibly the end cap of the coil. Does the lead have a rubber boot on the end?

Yes, new leads a couple of months back and no problems before installing the electronic ignition.

I refitted the lead to the coil and forced the rubber boot on a bit further and that seems to have fixed it!

Good stuff. I suppose the electronic ignition is charging the coil for longer so it's putting out a higher voltage.
