hi there i will need to eezibleed the brakes on the doggie soon and i was wondering if anyone has modded a cap and used it with air pressure, my plan was to drill a hole in an old cap, i will need to know a few things, (what would be a suitable size drill bit), and also i was planning on putting about 5 psi of air in the eezibleed.  is it ok to use some mastic either side of the drilled hole and attach the eezibleed tube, in some way?  please advise all.

I have a Gunson EZ bleed kit but it does not come with a cap for the Morris ( I e-mailed Gunson but they don't do one)

I had a spare m/cyl cap so I drilled it out on the top sufficient to allow the threaded portion of the EZ brass fitting to go through...around 10mm, I think... & then soldered the brass fitting to the filler cap.
I also soldered up the breather hole.
Unless you have a 100w plus soldering iron, you need to pre-heat the cap with a blowtorch since it is such a heat sink.
Also need to be thoroughly clean of course.

Using one of the rubber washers from the kit & at about 15 p.s.i. it works a treat!

Yes, I made a cap. The Eezibleed is a very handy tool. I didn't have the right size tap for the thread on the fitting, so I drilled the hole to clearance size and used the nut to hold it on. The problem with this is the fitting is quite short and the cast metal of the cap is quite thick, so I had to face the top of the cap (on a lathe) to make it thinner before the nut would go on. If I was doing it again I'd have tapped the hole instead, so the fitting would screw straight in without the nut.

You have to remove the anti-splash disc from inside the cap and block the breather hole too. I used a blob of silicone sealant to block the breather but one time it blew out and flooded the chassis leg with brake fluid while I was crawling around underneath with a spanner!

One modification I'd like to make is to rig up some way to power it directly from my compressor (via the pressure regulator) instead of the spare tyre.

Gravity works fine up here in Ecosseland.....

Here in Lancashire I find the gravity is a bit weak!

MHmm. Could I get a longer brass thread from where though? Also. I put a flat head screwdriver through the top of the cap. Would have to seal it with no more nails. I think it might have to be back to the gravity method? I don't fancy the sealant flying out!

In a previous thread i thought you had successfully gravity bled your brakes?

Yes. Just fancied one man bleeding this time, have to replace the frovnt t piece pipes.

You only need one man with gravity - and a cup of tea.......

bmc, dispell the myths, and the doubters, write down a step by step detailed plan for this miracle ...

here's my bmc plan for gravitybleed tm

1. brew a cup of tea.
2. open bleed nipple 1/4 way open
3. press brake pedal couple times
4. drink tea, ahhh that's nice!
5. close nipple
6. fill up m/c
.. rinse and repeat on each bleed nipple

"The best thing you could do to notice a difference (my opinion only, of course) is to has all the brake fluid replaced by a garage using a power bleeder (i.e. one connected to an air supply - the fluid is forced through the lines not just pumped using the pedal/gravity). I didn't get it done this time, when I changed the hoses, but did have it done when I changed the fluid after buying the car. Even with rubber hoses the difference in feel was nothing short of phenomenal! (Absolutely solid pedal, easy to modulate pressure - recommended!)".

the problem with gravity comes at step 3...

you push your brake pedal and release.. releasing will pull some air bubbles back in..

when you let the gravity work because of the lack of height difference between the master and the exit point of your tube whilst you will get brake fluid out you may well end up with air bubbles at the high points in the system as the fluid will just "leach" past under the air bubble. as there is no pressure to push the bubbles out..

good luck finding / converting your cap.

No bubbles back - because the pipe will be under the surface of the fluid in the jelly jar......

anyone ever use a pela to empty/refill there brake system or cooling system?

Just pour it in - no need for a pump!

what about the bubbles in the pipe that do not make it out to the fluid in your jam jar

They seem to follow on nicely - a wee stream of bubbles going down the see-thru tube.......
It's never failed me on a variety of cars - I wouldn't suggest it here if it wasn't tried and proven!

but when you want to avoid airlocks, the pela comes in very handy. set up correctly, you'll avoid airlocks.
