Series MM Radiator

Hi,
I have had my MM for 22 years, but it has been off the road for the past 13.
It was put back on the road for me as a surprise for my 40th birthday on 4th Feb this year.
However it seems the radiator core is weeping in patches, does anyone know if you can still buy the radiators/radiator cores or is it a case of getting them repaired. I seem to remember that I did have the radiator repaired when I first bought her as that was the only option - just wondering if this is still the case.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Hazel

Welcome to the messageboard Hazel. Great birthday present - makes a change from vouchers & smellies :D

I'll move your post to the Series MM forum as I'm sure someone there will be able to answer your query.

Any decent radiator place will be able to recore it for you. Good for another 22 years then!

Your local radiator repair depot should be able to fit a new core, however if you are phoning around for quotes make sure that they are aware that it is not an ordinary Minor radiator, the core is the same but the header tank bottom plate is bigger. The cost of a new core is likely to be around £130. Also make sure that they refit the side straps in the same position or the securing bolts will not line up. You might also consider replacing the top and bottom hoses whilst the rad is out.
Could you please PM me the details of the car for the Register

Thanks Louise Bmcecosse and Mike,
I really appreciate your help and advice. Will start to make enquiries today, I dont want her off the road for long - with the summer months ahead I have waited long enough to be able to go out driving in her.
Mike, I will send you an email with her details shortly.
Thanks again,
Hazel.

You could try Coolex Heat Transfer on 0115 9423344. They recently re-cored a later radiator for me for £100 including the return postage. Took about a week from sending it off.

it's worth to shop around - I heard of one place in Beds quoting well over £200 to recore an MM radiator.

I have just used a firm in Coventry JJ radiators and £130 for a new MM core sounds about right.
