Can anyone tell me please if Zinc Phos primer goes off? - I have a tin that has been in the garage for about 15 years which I have just unearthed! I had started the tin.

Cheers,

Ian

If it's still liquid I can't see why it wouldn't be okay - give it a good stir and paint a bit on something scrap and see if it dries and sticks ok.

A REALLY good stir, the zinc will have settled on the bottom of the can like rock forming silt.

I've got a stirrer that fits on an electric drill that would be ideal for the job.

Thanks guys,

I will give the tin a stir or two tomorrow and see how it reacts.

you may find it has a reaction when on metal :( and cracks and crazes. try leaving tin upside down for some time or soak tin in boiling water to get the properties to seperate

Thanks irmscher

Since posting the thread I haven't managed to get back into the garage so will give your advice a try before opening the can and giving it a stir up. I really only want it to hold some panels that I have been working on before I get around to painting them. Will probably sand back the primer then and start again when all the panels are ready.
