Brighter headlights

I've just fitted Phillips x-treme vision lamps to my headlights. I fitted halogen units long ago but these bulbs are so much brighter. They are the same wattage as standard units but better designed and higher pressure or something like that and they really are better.

A good way of upping the brightness without upping the wattage and overloading the dynamo or wiring. Important to get them correctly adjusted.

Wonder why the manufacturers don't fit them as standard to moderns......... I bought a set of the 'brighter' bulbs and tried them in my new modern - absolutely no better. But I do suspect the bulbs supplied with some of the halogen kits are less than perfect - so there likely is an improvement possible there. I know the halogens I fitted in my TR7 are less than great - but since I only use it in the height of summer - night driving is not a regular thing - so I haven't bothered to change them - yet!

Super bright headlights might enable you to see better, but they sure are tough on the drivers going in the opposite direction!
In this country it's illegal to fit lights that are brighter than those that came w/the vehicle from the factory, but lots of people do it anyways as very few get stopped because of it.
Personally I'll stick w/standard lights.

Only from a certain date I believe. Who wants to drive around with 42/36W headlight bulbs?
