Ok so i have purchased jlh's coil over kit, but now i am wondering whether i should restore my king pins and trunions, or buy complete new. they were last changed in 2004. is there any amount of miles or age they should be changed in???

I'd be guided by the amount of wear, can't think how else to put it; The teeth on the threaded uprights should not be pointed, and the trunnions should not wobble when screwed right down and backed off a couple of turns.

Age counts for little.
Mileage counts for a bit more but if they have been regularly greased and don't show any backlash then don't worry.

When your front wheel drops off you know they should have been changed
