Hi All,
Well we have been working slowly over the Christmas on too many projects but now I need to get the Morris out of my garage.
So, here is what we have done so far.
Car came off the road due to the gearbox dropping a tooth in first.
Could not find another good gearbox so decided to buy the 5 speed conversion from the Birmingham mmc.
Could not get a flywheel to suit so I bit the bullet and dusted off an old 1275 I had in the garage.
Stripped down the 1275 to find it is a 1330 with 266 cam, lightened and balanced.
Cleaned up the engine and painted it all up and proceeded to get it ready for the morris.
Stripped the engine bay ready, found some work that needed doing in the engine bay, done that, painted it all black.
Removed brake master, cleaned the chassis rails out and "smoothrited" them fully.
New brake pipes, servo bracket, removed wiring loom, renewed the covering and re-routed it better.
Fitted 5 speed box and engine and prop shaft.
Things left to do:-
Make exhaust manifold, fit Howley intake and 1 1/2" carb and filter.
Find cooling fan that will clear the breather and fit!
refit front end and MOT then test drive!

Did you find a suitable fan??
And I notice you've made no reference to the fun washer bottle

Not got a fan yet but I may turn a spacer on the lathe and see if it still fits behind the radiator.
Washer bottle, you mean the "country Manor" cream sherry bottle.... the MOT man laughs every year at that.
;)

my first traveller had an issue like this. answer:
kenlowe type fan on the back of a metro/ maestro rad which come with an inbuilt thermostatic switch

cut the breater in half and weld a flat plate on the front ;) Get most fans in the gap then

I dont really want to cut the breather as I spent ages rubbing down and prepping and painting up the front cover.....
So, I may look at the electric fan route although I was told the plastic fan from a mini will clear?

don't use a mini one!
the fan blades go the wrong way and it'll all end badly!

I have a similar engine set up in my Traveller and the best option I found was the Kenlowe fan, easy fit, better economy etc etc. not too expensive and a relatively simple fit.

unusual position for the starter

Modify your own fan to clear the breather by cutting around a 1/4" off the back edge of the fan blades; can be done with a good tin snips.
Simple and quick

Hi All,
Ok, I spent a bit of time messing on the lathe and turned some neoprene to be a snug fit over the end of the water-pump and then drilled the fit the original fan blade (which I also painstakingly rubbed down and painted and lacquered etc!!) which gives me 3mm clearance from the breather.
I must make sure we have no tolerance issues or I will be getting a phone call from Paula!!!
All this to save a bit of money!
I did buy a new Dizzy from a guy on ebay that goes by the name "simonbbc", great deal, a new dizzy fitted out with electronics and set up for the 1275, very nice with coil and cap etc for £79. very pleased.
The Starter, it is one of those "minimal friction" ones!
I actually have a unit I reconditioned already fitted, I just need to take the wires off the original one (todays job)
Hi Chris, all ok cheers, you?
Today's jobs (in my lunch hour) is to try and find the dipstick, rocker cover, oil filter and fill her with oil.
Then plumb in the rest of the servo pipes.

OK, the latest (I have been away this weekend so not a lot)...
Front end back on, fan tweaked to clear the radiator, brake pipes and wiring loom tidy, new starter fitted, all water pipes fitted, carb fitted although all cables are now redundant as they will not fit! new cables will be made this week.
Fitted the master cylinder, broke the push-rod from the brake pedal, the pin wont come out so I went to remove the whole pedal and.....the sleeve next to the brake pedal on the shaft has merged with the aforementioned shaft!!!
ARGH!
so, I cant get the pedal assembly out.
I may grind it off tonight and then remake the shaft.
It seems a very bad design anyway (my excuse and I am sticking to it).....
Then I can remake and fit the clutch actuator too.
So, a busy week for me but without moving forward much.
Work will interupt play as I have to travel abroad this week but I hope to get a good weekend on it next weekend!
Regs,
Spence

I got my spacer sleeve loose by putting a pipe wrench (stilson) around the sleeve and then rocking the clutch pedal until it came loose on the shaft.
Plenty of plus gas and maybe some heat as well it should free up!!

Hi, I tried brute force etc, in the end I ran the grinder along the top of the sleeve and once I had broken through to the centre it came loose!
So, the whole assembly came out tonight and I cut the broken thread off the brake pedal pushrod and welded a bolt back in its place so that is all back fine, I then put the clutch pedal in the vice and ran welds up and down the length of the rod and then ground it back so it was more uniform (very badly pitted).
The brake pedal does not have so much play in it now.
So, tomorrow night I will put it all back together once I have been on-line to see how the Clutch linkages go back together!
the joys of going the extra mile to find those little issues that were not that bad until you look for them!
lol
