Since changing my car steering wheel (back to the standard three-spoke) I can't get the horn to work, everytime I try it blows the fuse, how do I resolve this?

Change the wheel back........
The horn button works by earthing the connection - so any such 'earth' would blow the horn - not the fuse. So this suggests the fault must lie in the live circuit to the horn or in the horn itself - since any fault after the horn would simply make it sound !

I agreee with BMCE; does your horn have double spades. If so has the live (purple) and the horn button feed (purple\black) been accidentally connected on the one terminal? If not there isn't much else but a faulty horn, unless your fuse is too small, some horns take quite a bit of current?

There is always the electricians last resort, short the fuse, operate the circuit and look for sparks\smoke

if you don't spot any smoke - start looking for flames...

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Is this on Emily or Sidney?

Knowing that Emily has had a fair whack of mods done it might be worth checking that the wiring works in the standard fashion?

This is on Emily, I'll have another look today. I had a problem with it a few months ago, David McCullough got it working again so I'll have to see if it's the same problem!

Good morning Andy! All I remember doing was cleaning the connections on the horn end after we had tested it on the battery. Worth trying that agin and maybe the fuse.

More importantly did you get the handbrake sorted yet............

I've tested the horn direct to the battery and it seems to be working fine so there must be a problem in the circuit somewhere. After a bit of adjustment the handbrake seems to be working fine.

After shorting out the fuse box and pressing the horn it worked fine, then connecting it together again, fine, shut the bonnet and it stopped working! It's working again now but we'll see how long for.

it looks as if you took my what was intended as an in joke literally. If shutting the bonnet upset it that sounds like poor terminal connection somewhere?

Well I though I might aswell try and see if it worked! It's not blowing the fuses now and it seems to me to be just a dodgy connecton to the fusebox.

a dodgy connection at the fuse box will not blow a fuse. If your car is wired as original there is voltage all the way to the horn push. So any earth fault up to the horn would blow the fuse whether you push the button or not. If after the horn, as BMCE said , the horn would blow by itself, probablly continually. Current only flows when you make the circuit by pressing the horn push.
