I have finally got her back from the garage and managed too drive her the 15 miles and about 500m from she broke down leaving me in the deep end really because so far i have no Mechanical experience and its the first time ive ever driven her so i dont know her little tricks too get her too work, My brother (the previous owner) has been very helpful over the phone and i have managed too un stick the Starter Motor (started in Reverse) Then Bumped in second at a fast pace, but the mechanic has altered the Carb so its not staying running on idle, ive just got a few little bits too play with in the morning and hopefully she should be up and running So touch wood, in the next 24 hours, i should make it the 500m home dear... Its a Love hate Relationship

If the starter keeps sticking you need to take it out and check that the shaft is nice and clean and don't oil it when you put it back or it just picks up dirt and will cause the problem all over again.

if the idle is too low, as a short term solution, pull the choke out slightly when you're driving (or rather don't push it in all the way after it's warmed up) it'll stop it cutting out when you're off the throttle. the long term cure is to turn the idle up on the carb. i don't have a pic on me, i'm sure somebody else may have one to hand to show you where the adjuster screw is though! failing that i'll take one when it's light and post it tomorrow!

Ive got a couple of manuals so i am going to try work it out through them i will be back on again if this doesnt sort her out :/

If the 'garage' leaves the car like this - DON'T GO BACK THERE!

starter jamming could be chewed up 'ring gear' on the flywheel. usually only happens in parts, not all the way round, so it doesn't always jam, you just get unlucky if it happens to stop in the chewed up bit! you can get new ring gears fitted, or even just fit a 2nd hand flywheel, but getting to it is an engine out job ideally. can be done in situ but the box would definately have to be dropped down. if you take the starter motor out at some point, as suggested already, i suggest you get your starting handle and slowly turn the engine by hand whilst keeping an eye on the teeth that you can see through the hole the starter motor has left, then you can look all the way around the ring gear to see what state it's in!

No... he has told me he deosnt want too see it again which is a shame... Ive alwaays used him for my previous cars (and my parents have used him for 12 years) and he is a 2cv garage and has worked with Minors regularlly... Ow well, i have found a Nice chap in Mosterton who specialises in MG's but says Mogeys are also under his 'forte' (and hes even got a Mogey Body work specialist next door!) STEAL!

you wanna forget the starter and use the handle anyway, its what i do unless its terribly early in the mornin and bitterly cold.

as has been said, untill you familiarise yourself with the engine, and find that tick over screw (im sure someone will post a pic, i would but its too dark to go take one!) just leave the choke out a 1.4 inch or so till it runs smooth.... it'l get you home atleast.

yh... im not going too worry about it too much now (not much i can do!) and will have a tackle in the morning

The choke was getting stuck open and it has sorted its self outtouch wood so far

Sorry I didn't get back to you about the bonnet catch any sooner. I left my phone in the pergeot, which went to work with my mum! :p
