having had a bit of a wonder through the vast scrap heap that is flebay, i discovered these spats from the colonies down under
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/REAR-WHEEL-SPATS- ... 3749697542
certainly unique i think,
http://mog.myfreeforum.org/Yellow_conve ... t2280.html
kinda gives the car a 50's american feel about that.
i also thought that the rear wings where universal to all moggys, so they might fit old primrose

I know that earlier minors had "high cut" rear wings - not sure whether that was just MM or if Series 2 had em too. Im sure someone will be along soon

pardon my ignorance... but what are they? i've followed the link and short of 'wheel arch liners' i can't think what else they might be!

they essentially cover the rear wheel, thus providing a lovely line straight along the sills to the bumper. the jagur xk140 had them as an option as did many of the huge american cars of the 50's

High cut wings? Much greater gap between the wheel and the wing essentially.
High cut
Not high cut

Each to their own I suppose - but I can't think of anything more ghastly right off the top of my head.......

might be worth getting in touch with iainintenbury ( another poster on this site ) as he appears to have made some up, half way down this earlier thread.

normal spats make the back of the car look very heavy in my opinion but the ones Ian made up do not look heavy at all and seem to suit the car

Wheel spats? Just another way of adding weight. Might suit coachbuilt cars by Figoni and Falaschi but ruins the lines of a Minor, in my opinion.

Well - I was rather thinking along 'coachbuilding' lines - but yes the peaks are dangerous and unsightly, and the angled dampers are just stupid.......

I read somewhere that headlamp peaks reduce mpg and marginaly slow the car down cooper tested them. Another ugly thing was the boot extension for the saloon

Just down to taste really, I was asked to make a pair quite a few years back now and have only made two other pairs since so few folk seem to like them that much... If I recall correctly, one pair went to Scotland, and other to New York andthe third I think I sold at a show somewhere. I don't dislike them myself and even Stirling Moss had a set on his lowlight, but I've got other priorities with my car before spats get considered (such as fitting a gearbox with more than two gears....

).
