Doesnt look too bad either, a few dents in the roof, surface rust and a bit to fix round the back window.

I was watching that. I thought it was funny that its going for more than what people are offering me for my moggy! How did you know it was a lowlight from those photos? The only thing i'd noticed was that theres no circlular holes cut out in the bottom of the engine bay.

No extra channel between the roof and the rear deck, just below the window. It also has the cut-outs in the front arches for the lowlight headlamps.

I just had a stupid thought. In theory, could you transfer the entire drive train from a 1955 2 door into a lowlight shell? What about the windows etc. Are they different sizes?

This is just hyperthetical of course. You'd need a 2 door with a good drive train and a totally stripped mm shell to come up for sale.....

No unfortunately the bulkhead is different on the very early cars and you cant fit an A series without some major surgery

I've also been looking at this shell.

I recon its a '49 or '50 shell. Not sure of its condition but looking at the photos it looks like the engine bay floors have been replaced as you can see plug welds. Also the roof has taken a hammering and would take an awful lot to get that right again, however its the flaky rusty edge to the bottom of the rear window that puts me off most. If the shell has gone in that location it is usually pretty rough and 'thin'.

Still a rarity though to see one for sale.

Since the sill ends look amazingly good, I'd assumed those welds were the repair of a front-end impact. I had this on an MG Midget where the legs were opened up to get a bottle jack in there to push the legs straight again. The right inner wing looks like it has buckled too, a bit. Probably wrong, though. I did this on my Morris to straighten up where someone had used a jack on the crossmember.

I see the advert on ebay has ended early for some reason. There were four bids, the highest standing at £230-00 and now it has ended with a total of £100-00. What has happened there then?

I've been messaged buy the owner, and he now has all the original bits to make the car up again and will relist when done. So watch this space he said!
