Uxbridge minor (be a samaritan)
I came accross this on ebay last night and my heart kinda sank. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... TQ:GB:1123
It is such a shame to see anyone have to sell their beloved minor. This young lady clearly loves the car I don't know her in anyway and if i were closer I would see what I could do.
I have suggested she contact her local branch to see if anyone could assist her with the welding up which as far as I can tell from the information is the typical suspension points front and rear
offside front chassis suspension component mounting prescribed area
nearside rear suspension spring mounting prescribed area
offside rear suspension spring mounting prescribed area
offside rear (chassis to spring hanger) suspension spring mounting prescribed area
nearside rear (floor) suspension component mounting prescribed area
I did advise here that the parts are relatively cheap to source maybe there is some kind person here that could lend a hand

Re: East London minor (be a samaritan)
:/
really saddened by this
i would be in their situation too if i didn't have my very kind uncle who's doing the welding for me. mine was motd when i bought it a didn't seem to need any welding... well, 6 months and many hours later...
there must be something we can do :/
even if someone does the work on a long-term payment basis.
hope someone with the relevant skills comes along

Re: East London minor (be a samaritan)
blimey! if you look at the pics it's got an LCB exhaust, HIF carb, K&N filter, servo. she hasn't mentioned any (except 'good brakes'). do you recon it's actually a 948?
it is a shame, very sad to read, but if they have 'absolutely zero money' then even if somebody did do the welding for them, what next? chances are it would just go on ebay in 3 months time for twice as much with 'solid floor' in the description.
maybe i'm just a pesimist! or a realist!

By the way, the car is in Uxbridge, no where near East London.

It would be great if someone could help out. Could she sell it without an MOT? I see the starting price is £950.

Hi
I am the owner of the Morris Minor in question, thank you to everybody for your comments and for starting this discussion in the first place. As a couple of you have pointed out, my mechanical knowledge is minimal which is why I have failed to mention crucial points in my add. I would be very grateful if there was someone out there willing to help me or offer advice as ideally I do not want to sell.
Thanks again
Laura

Welcome! Do take my previous post in this topic with a pinch of salt. I was tired and pesimistic at the time! I hope somebody can help you and your minor stay together! I know i'd be distraught if i faced losing mine!

Hi Laura, I hope you don't mind my starting this topic, but I just felt from your add that you really would rather not have to sell the car but for circumstances and ability with a welder.lauraslade wrote:Hi

I placed this also on the other active morris forum http://mog.myfreeforum.org/about2573.html there appears to be a chap in east kent that could do it very reasonably if you were able to get it to him.

Re: Uxbridge minor (be a samaritan)
I wouldnt really be able to do any of the welding or the like, but i'm currently at brunel uni in uxbridge, and if someone was interested in helping or even possible purchase i could probably nip down next week (if it doesn't sell) to have a little look at the spec and possible work required. pm me?

Re: Uxbridge minor (be a samaritan)
Hi Laura it might be worthwhile contacting the local Runnymead branch as they may know someone local to undertake the repairs at a fair price.
Runnymead Branch meets at ROAB socail club, 136 Church Road, Addlestone, Surrey. second monday of each month at 8pm.

Re: Uxbridge minor (be a samaritan)
Hi everybody
Just to say thank you for the interest and care into my car, it did in fact sell. Sad day. All the information has not gone to waste though as I am storing it for my next morris.....which there will be one one day soon.
