Are the new mounts significantly thicker/harder than the originals ? I don't have a pic - but if you think turning the brackets round will make it sit lower - give it a try!

Lay shaft ??
Someone else had a similar problem recently - can't remember seeing how it was resolved. Very possibly the rubber mounts are too thick/hard ?

The brackets that mount on the extension housing go w/the opening down, sorta like an inverted U.

They can be put in the wrong way up and on the wrong side, I spent a few confused hours sorting this out after refitting an engine and once on a car that someone else had done! Heres a pic from from traveller when it was haing new floors fitted and you should be able to see the way round they go.[frame]

The mountings are handed. I have just done the same thing myself, managed to fit them the wrong way round. The result is the gearbox and engine sit further forward than they should. I also wondered why the relay shaft was at an odd angle but didnt realise my mistake until I tried starting up whereupon there was a horrible clattering sound as the fan blade hit the back of the radiator.
