You say first service due, have you just rebuilt/changed the engine?

Including valve guides and seals?
These being worn, or missing, in the case of the seals is the normal cause of blue smoke at start up.

Good engines don't smoke......... Why would a 'service' stop this ?? Blue smoke is oil burning - so somehow oil is getting into the combustion chambers. Could be running down the valve stems - but I doubt that's all that's wrong........ As ever - a compression check is useful.

eBay description didn't say valves or guides done. My money would be on them.

not that i've ever seen or experienced your driving mr hotrodder... i'm just assuming from rumours

, but have you been driving your freshly rebuilt engine nice and gently for the first 1500 or so miles? to allow everything to bed in? or have you been hooning around?
just a thought!

Hope you also re-set the valve gaps. Can't see how this affects blue smoke - but as long as it's not doing it now.......
